Born in 1940 to a military family, we traveled frequently. One thing was consistent, I loved to draw! I've been drawing or crafting since I could hold a pencil.
Encouraged by teachers but not family, I joined the Air Force. While in the service, pen and ink became my medium. In 1968 I placed 2nd in the Savannah Arts Festival.
My first competition and Big Sale. Got some honorable mentions later on, but business (feeding the family) prevailed. Did some commercial art on the side.
Don't remember the 1970's. During the 1980's I discovered pastels. Although not committed to art completely, I displayed my portraits in my optical shop,
and various local galleries and frame shops. Now retired from the optical business, I'm finally committed to art. I have my own studio/gallery in Franktown,
Colorado and am building the same in Lead, South Dakota, where my wife Sherry (native South Dakotan) and I live 50% of the timeā¦for now.
